I realize that the post above is the untamed schadenfreude one, but I gotta post this here because of the "volunteers" reference.

My favorite encapsulation of the whole GOP campaign dynamic is this, in which workers were paid to lie to voters, claiming they were volunteers, in an obvious attempt to overblow the degree of support for McCain - and in return for their duplicity, got stiffed by their bosses, turning them into volunteers against their will! Love it.
