Define "or so"
"Lamont supporters were a little obsessive about the kiss George Bush planted on Joe Lieberman's cheek, but they were so creative that their videos about it kept the image alive in entertaining ways each week. The mainstream media could only obsess over an iconic moment like Howard Dean's scream for a day or so, but Lamont supporters could take an iconic moment and recycle it again and again and again." John Dickerson, Slate [emphasis added]

And let's not forget the Howard Dean Scream-inspired Chappelle's Show Lost Episode sketch which saw air for the first time on July 9, 2006.
But given the circumstances, maybe the difference can be split on that.

And -- The Scream is still used as a punctuation sound effect on countless radio shows. Just last month somebody on Air America, Al Franken I think, did a whole segment analysing The Scream in the context of Dean's entire speech, where it sounded like a perfectly appropriate expression of enthusiasm.

"The Scream in the context of Dean's entire speech"
Yeah, pretty much the whole thing was like that. You don't get that red in the face from just one holler.

Another hilarious flaw in that article is the notion that voters in Connecticut have any idea what in the hell Youtube is. Youtube won the CT primary for Lamont? I have a couple of dozen family members (both my family and my wife's) in that state, and not a single one could tell you what Youtube is.
