Daniel RadoshI was looking at the headlines when I got it: Al Gore's endorsement of Howard Dean is the establishment's way of co-opting, or at least making sense of, what they could never fathom -- that Dean is a winner. Check the spin: Gore gets credit for securing the nomination for Dean (no doubt the chance to be a king-maker played a part in Gore's decision). And the media, which has been hating Dean and his surge, now gets to be comfortable with him because after all Dean isn't winning on his own merits, he's winning because Al Gore likes him. Balance has been restored.
